     Samuel Bucher A Taufschein was sent to V. Adm. W. Gordon Beecher in Alexandria VA in 1972 by an unknown person, to me, but is origianlly from J. Gregg Beecher of Baltimore, Living in 1894. I have a copy of the letter. The Taufschein states that Samuel Buger, son of Heinrich and Catherine Buger was born Dec. 14, 1766 and written on the back in ink is "Samuel Beecher died on Monday at 1:00 PM. [unlaut over the 'u']. Another letter to V.Adm. Beecher by an unknown person says Samuel is his ancestor and he names the children. He also says Samuel was born Dec. 16, 1767 and died October 8, 1821 and married Maria Barbara. On my perpetual calendar, October 8, 1821 was a Monday. From Jacob Winterode's administration [Adams Co. Probate, Book AB:;7] I found that Samuel married Jacob's daughter, Barbara. At York County Recorder of Deeds, Book 2M:59. 1783. Samuel Beeher and Barbara of Petersburg, Germany Twp. sold land to Michael Depert. Description: The north side of King St., W bounded by Lot #48, on N by land of Mathias Baker, E by 16' alley. Known on plat as 49 and 50. He was born on 14 December 1766 at Taufschein. He was the son of Henry Bucher and Catherine (?).

     Samuel Bucher married Maria Barbara Winterode, daughter of Jacob Winterode, circa 1790; See baptism of Frederick Bucher's child.

     Samuel Bucher died on 8 October 1821 at Adams County, Pennsylvania, at age 54.

     Maria Barbara Winterode She is the daughter of Jacob Winterode who died intestate in Germany Twp., Adams Co., and whose administration was probated 24 Jan. 1800. He owned 170 acres and the land was adjacent to Christian Recht, Jacob Rider, Henry Weishler, Jacob Hostetter, Jacob Sherman and James McSherry. There was no widow but he had 8 children. Frederick Beeher [sic] married another daughter, Catherine and they signed away rights for 190 pounds. Wm. Beeher was a witness. She was born on 23 November 1771; Ltr to William Gordon Beecher, Jr. She was the daughter of Jacob Winterode.

     Maria Barbara Winterode married Samuel Bucher, son of Henry Bucher and Catherine (?), circa 1790; See baptism of Frederick Bucher's child.

     Maria Barbara Winterode died on 6 June 1851 at age 79; Ltr to William Gordon Beecher, Jr.

     Sarah Salome Bucher /Beecher was church a member of the Reformed church for her whole life.¹

     Sarah Salome Bucher /Beecher married John Henry Fechtig.¹ Sarah Salome Bucher /Beecher was born on 25 October 1796.² She was the daughter of Samuel Bucher and Maria Barbara Winterode. Sarah Salome Bucher /Beecher She married John Henry Fechtig of Hagerstown, MD and had 6 children. on 14 March 1822.

     Sarah Salome Bucher /Beecher died on 5 April 1881 at age 84; Christs Church, Littlestown, York Co., PA.

     

Jacob Bucher /Beecher was Pastor. He He married Hannah Mitchell and had two children both of whom died young, William Cooper and Joseph Mitchell. He was Pastor of the German Reformed Chruches at Shephardstown and Martinsburg WV and Smithfield MD. He is buried behind Christ Reformed Church in Shephardstown. There is an oil painting by Edmond Brewster painted in 1828 in the possession of the unknown man who wrote the letter to Adm. William G. Beecher, Jr. He was born on 2 May 1797; Ltr to William Gordon Beecher, Jr. He was the son of Samuel Bucher and Maria Barbara Winterode.

     Catherine Bucher /Beecher She married George Spitter and had four children. She was born on 21 January 1793 at Germany Twp., York County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Samuel Bucher and Maria Barbara Winterode.

     Catherine Bucher /Beecher died on 15 March 1798 at age 5; Ltr to W. Gordon Beecher.

     Maria Bucher /Beecher She married John Shorb. They had 6 children. See letter to Adm William Gordon Beecher, Jr. She was born on 14 July 1791 at Christ's Reformed Church, Germany Twp., York County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Samuel Bucher and Maria Barbara Winterode.

     

John William Reck was Farmer. He I found another record for a John Reck, born 12 May 1785, christened 12 Mar. 1789 at St. John's Lutheran, sponsor: John Bucher and wife, Elisabeth. This was found at the York County Historical Society, from the church record by MLM. The other is from "Descendants of Christian Reck". No documentation. John William married 1st. Anna Hiner, ca. 1807; married 2nd. to M. G. Temperance [Timmison] Kent. He was born on 15 March 1785 at Mt. Joy Twp., York County, Pennsylvania; Descendants of Christian Reck, Jr. He was the son of Christian Reck Jr. and Sophia Bucher. John William Reck was buried in February 1879 at Gettysburg Cem., Darke Co., Ohio.

     John William Reck died on 9 February 1879 at Adams Twp., Darke County, Ohio, at age 93; Descendants of Christian Reck, Jr.

     Elizabeth Reck was born on 13 March 1787 at Mt. Joy Twp., York County, Pennsylvania; Descendants of Christian Reck, Jr. She was the daughter of Christian Reck Jr. and Sophia Bucher.

     

Jacob Reck was Grain Dealer. He Married 1st. Mary Ann Brenner; married 2nd. Eva Mary Klutz; married 3rd. Mary Magdaline Seibt [Seips, Sipes]. He was born on 12 January 1789 at York County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Christian Reck Jr. and Sophia Bucher.

     Jacob Reck died circa 1827 at Bedford Co. PA; History of Darke Co.

     Catherine Reck was buried; Gettysburg Cem. Darke Co., OH. She was born on 11 January 1791 at Germany Twp., York County, Pennsylvania; Descendants of Christian Reck, Jr.¹ She was the daughter of Christian Reck Jr. and Sophia Bucher.

     Catherine Reck died on 7 November 1863 at age 72; Descendants of Christian Reck, Jr.

     Christian Reck III was buried; Alliance City Cem., Stark Co. OH, Residence Canton, OH. He was born on 22 June 1793 at York County, Pennsylvania; Descendants of Christian Reck, Jr. He was the son of Christian Reck Jr. and Sophia Bucher.

     Christian Reck III died on 4 October 1866 at age 73; Descendants of Christian Reck, Jr.

     Henry Bucher /Beecher was the son of John Bucher /Beecher and Elisabeth Keplinger. Henry Bucher /Beecher was buried; Pine Bank Cemetery. He On Nov. 11, 1822, Reel 93, page 270 at the Adams Co. Court House is listed an accounting of his estate. Executors: Wm. & Counover Garret. Five children: David, John, Wm., Eli, and Betsy, all minors. He had 5 acres of land and it was to be sold as the estate could not pay his debts and to educate and raise his children.

     Henry Bucher /Beecher died on 22 July 1822 at Cumberland Twp., Adams Co. PA; From Sentenial, a Gettysburg newspaper.

     David Bucher was born circa 1813. He was the son of Henry Bucher /Beecher.

     John Bucher was born circa 1815. He was the son of Henry Bucher /Beecher.

     William Bucher was born circa 1816. He was the son of Henry Bucher /Beecher.

     Eli Bucher was born on 3 December 1818. He was the son of Henry Bucher /Beecher.

     Eli Bucher died on 3 July 1833 at age 14.

     Catherine Elizabeth Bucher was born circa 1820. She was the daughter of Henry Bucher /Beecher.

     Anna Margaretha Gilbert was born on 26 April 1797 at Adams County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Jacob Gilbert and Anna Margaretha Fox.

     Anna Margaretha Gilbert married David Beecher /Bucher, son of John Bucher /Beecher and Elisabeth Keplinger, circa 1814 at Adams County, Pennsylvania.

     Anna Margaretha Gilbert died on 30 July 1887 at Beechersville, Adams County, Pennsylvania, at age 90. She was buried in August 1887 at Fairview Cemetery, Arendtsville, Adams County, Pennsylvania; Exhumed from Reformed Cemetery, old graveyard, where bank is now.

     Elizabeth Beecher /Bucher was born on 25 December 1815 at Beechersville, Adams County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of David Beecher /Bucher and Anna Margaretha Gilbert.

     Elizabeth Beecher /Bucher died on 8 November 1827 at Beechersville, Adams County, Pennsylvania, at age 11.

     Ann Margaretha Beecher /Bucher was born on 16 November 1817. She was the daughter of David Beecher /Bucher and Anna Margaretha Gilbert.

     Ann Margaretha Beecher /Bucher died on 21 June 1822 at age 4.

     

Samuel Beecher /Bucher was (an unknown value) at Laborer, Adams County, Pennsylvania. He Samuel is the only son of David Beecher, who owned the paper mill, to survive to adulthood. He ran the paper mill located in Beecherville, Adams Co., PA. In the 1860 Butler Twp., Adams Co., PA census, page 3, Samuel lived right next to David and Mary Beecher. His RE value was $4,000 and PP was $400. He was listed as a paper maker. He was born on 5 March 1820. He was the son of David Beecher /Bucher and Anna Margaretha Gilbert.

     Bernhard John Beecher /Bucher was born on 23 August 1824. He was the son of David Beecher /Bucher and Anna Margaretha Gilbert.

     Bernhard John Beecher /Bucher died on 5 June 1831 at age 6.

     Catherine Beecher /Bucher In the 1850 census Catherine and her family are living with Henry and Lucy Weigle. Isaac Shank is listed as dead in David Beecher's will, written in 1880. He is not listed in the 1860 census but Catherine is listed as Saltzsgiver with David Saltzsgiver and Henry Shank, age 3 in the 1860 Butler Twp., census. In 1870 Henry Shank, age 13, is listed with David Beecher plus Catherine Saltzgiver, age 40. I think Catherine married Saltzgiver after Shank died and he already had a family. I don't know if they separated or he died but in David Beecher's will is is called widow of Isaac Shank and Saltzgiver is not mentioned. She was born on 13 December 1826. She was the daughter of David Beecher /Bucher and Anna Margaretha Gilbert.

     Catherine Beecher /Bucher married an unknown person on 14 January 1846.

     Catherine Beecher /Bucher married Isaac Shank on 14 January 1846.

     Catherine Beecher /Bucher married David Saltzsgiver circa 1860; Married in 1860 Butler Twp., Adams Co. Census.

     Lucy Ann Beecher /Bucher was born on 17 December 1828. She was the daughter of David Beecher /Bucher and Anna Margaretha Gilbert.

     Lucy Ann Beecher /Bucher married Henry Weigle on 26 October 1848. Lucy Ann Beecher /Bucher was obituary Gettysburg Times 14 Mar 1916 - Mrs Henry Weigle Mrs. Lucy A. Weigle formerly of Arendtsville, died in Harrisburg on Sunday aged 88 years. Mrs. Weigle was the widow of the late Henry Weigle and a daughter of the late Mr & Mrs Samuel Beecher of Arendtsville and had been making her home with her grand daughter Miss Georgianna Weigle and a married granddaughter who was Miss Mary Weigle before marriage. She is also survived by one grandson Dr. Harry Weigle. Funeral is in Hanover on Wednesday at 9:00.

     David Henry Gilbert Beecher /Bucher was born on 1 July 1831 at Beechersville, Adams Co. PA. He was the son of David Beecher /Bucher and Anna Margaretha Gilbert.

     David Henry Gilbert Beecher /Bucher died on 16 November 1839 at Beechersville, Adams Co. PA, at age 8.

     

George Beecher /Bucher was Wagonmaker. He was born on 11 September 1833 at Beechersville, Adams Co. PA. He was the son of David Beecher /Bucher and Anna Margaretha Gilbert.

     George Beecher /Bucher died on 24 October 1846 at Beechersville, Adams Co. PA, at age 13; At the Globe Inn.

     

Henry Weigle was Tanner. He was born circa 1825; Adams Co., Butler Twp. 1860 census.

     Henry Weigle married Lucy Ann Beecher /Bucher, daughter of David Beecher /Bucher and Anna Margaretha Gilbert, on 26 October 1848.

     D. H. G. Beecher was born on 16 September 1848 at Beechersville, Adams Co. PA.

     Catharine Bucher was born on 30 November 1789 at Germany Twp., York County, Pennsylvania.

     Elizabeth Bucher was born on 17 April 1794 at Germany Twp., York County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Samuel Bucher and Maria Barbara Winterode.
