Johannes Engel Bankes /Benckes

     Johannes Engel Bankes /Benckes resided at New Hanover, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. He His will was written 17 August 1770 and proved 16 March 1774. It was recorded in Philadelphia: Vol P, page 535. It is available on microfilm in Philadellphia but impossible to read as the copy is very poor. I took an abstract of the Will from the PA Historical Society, pg. 859. It clearly lists Andrew Sechler as his son-in-law. However I read the following on microfilm in Harrisburg. The will had to be settled by 17 March 1775. Anna was given a bed with bedstead and all that belongs to it, plus a chest and all contained therein. Also a cow and a hog. Equal parts of personal and moveable estate and full right and priviledge to the house. John Peter Binkes, the third son, got the plantation and had to care for his mother. He was to give her 8 bushels of rye and 4 bushels of wheat, plus chickens and eggs. Andrew Binkes, the youngest son, got 65 pounds. The oldest son was John George. He was born circa 1706.

     Hannah (?) A marriage is recorded in the New Goshenhoppen Church Records on page 365: 1776, June 9 Philip Vorschong of New Goshenhoppen and Anna Benges, of New Goshenhoppen. Could this be the widow of Johannes Engle Bankes? On page 356 the death of Philip Wischang's wife is recorded. Feb. 22, 1776 [age about 74 years]. She was born circa 1721.

     Hannah (?) married Johannes Engel Bankes /Benckes circa 1744.

     Hannah (?) died in October 1786.1 She was buried on 20 October 1786 at New Goshenhoppen, Montogmery Co PA.2
